Severity 1: An issue that renders the software totally inoperative or unusable in a production environment.

Severity 2: An issue that renders the software partially inoperative or unusable in a production environment.

Severity 3: An issue that presents a small loss or degradation of software functionality, as well as Severity 1 and Severity 2 problems occurring in a non-production environment.

Severity 4: An operational deficiency or detected condition that either does not affect software functionality, or is a customer request for a new feature or enhancement.
