How IT Works
Mobile Admin features a client-server architecture. The Mobile Admin Server is installed behind your corporate firewall within your internal network, and must be able to see any server that you would like to manage. Once installed and directed to your servers, the Mobile Admin Server automatically discovers any running software or service that Mobile Admin can interact with. This enables the Mobile Admin Server to be the central hub allowing you to manage dozens of servers, platforms, and monitoring systems on your network through the Mobile Admin Client.
The Mobile Admin Client securely accesses your IT environment through the Mobile Admin Server. A secure connection is made through your VPN to the Mobile Admin Server to give you convenient and immediate access to over 500 different monitoring and management functions on your servers.
For more information, read the Mobile Admin Architecture Paper.

Supported Clients
Mobile Admin is supported by a wide range of smartphones:
- BlackBerry smartphones
- Apple iPhone or iPod Touch devices
- Symbian S60 smartphones
- Windows Mobile 6 smartphones
Mobile Admin Security
Mobile Admin utilizes a sophisticated point-to-point multi-layer security model to ensure that the advantages of mobility do not compromise your network.
Encryption & Authentication
If you are using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, all data is encrypted using US Government security-certified Triple Data Encryption Standard (TDES) or Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). If you are using any other smartphones with a virtual private network (VPN), all data is encrypted by the VPN. In all cases, Mobile Admin can be configured to connect using HTTPS, which uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt all data.
You can configure Mobile Admin to require a Windows login, or a Mobile Admin-specific login. Mobile Admin also supports the use of RSA SecurID two-factor, RADIUS authentication, and device-level authentication.
For more information, read the Mobile Admin Security White Paper.
