Restrictions on BIS connections prevent Rove Mobile SSH from making connections on any port below 1024. This means connection attempts to the default SSH or Telnet port will fail with the error "Disconnected: Connection error: <port>"
To work around this, choose a connection method such as BES/MDS (if you have access to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server) or TCP/IP.
Ports such as 2222 should work properly when using BIS as the connection type.
