Common Errors when Installing the BlackBerry User Administration Service

Not logged in as the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Administrator

Parts of the BlackBerry User Administration Service will be installed to the Windows Registry so if you are logged in as another user when installing the BlackBerry User Administration Service then the service will not run properly as it will be missing the registry information

Errors in specifying the domain user account that the BlackBerry User Administration Service will run as

When specifying the domain user account that the BlackBerry User Administration service uses to run the account must be specified in the form DOMAIN\USERNAME or else the service will not work correctly

Specifying the wrong MAPI Profile

It is very common for people using the Exchange version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to specify the wrong MAPI profile.  If you are logged into your BES as the BES Administrator user then you can normally look in the following location in your registry in order to see the correct value of the MAPI Profile:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research in Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents

Then look for the MapiProfile key on the right hand side.  By default it is usually BlackBerryServer

If you installed the BlackBerry User Administration Service with the wrong MAPI Profile then there are two ways to fix it:

1. The safest way is to uninstall and re-install the BlackBerry User Administration Service using the correct MAPI Profile

2. The other way is to modify the registry.  You have to modify the MapiProfile at the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research in Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Admin

to have the same value as the one in Agents.

Note:
Only change the MapiProfile under Admin and not the one under Agents

Assigning roles with Role Administration

With v4.1 of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the BlackBerry Resource Kit you will need to define roles for any users that are going to be managing the BlackBerry Enterprise server with Mobile Admin.  When assigning a role to a user the account must be specified in the form DOMAIN\USERNAME or else it will not work correctly
