Running the BlackBerry User Administration Service on the Mobile Admin computer in Mobile Admin 3.3

You would use these steps when Mobile Admin is installed on a different computer than your BlackBerry Enterprise Server and you do not want to install the BlackBerry User Administration Service on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

In order to be able to install the BlackBerry User Administration Service on a computer other than the BlackBerry Enterprise Server there are some additional steps required if you use Exchange.  If you do not use Exchange then you can start at step 9 below.
  1. Install the appropriate Windows Server Administration Tools Pack for your environment (i.e. the Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack)
  2. Install the Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools
  3. Install any Exchange patches to bring the Exchange System Management tools up to the same patch level as your Microsoft Exchange Server.
  4. Install the BlackBerry Manager on the computer.  This can be done through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Installer.
  5. Log in as the BlackBerry Service account (i.e. besadmin) if you are not logged in as that account already
  6. Copy BESProfile.exe from your BlackBerry Enterprise Server to the Mobile Admin computer.  It can be found in the directory the BlackBerry Enterprise Server was installed in.
  7. From the Command Prompt run "BESProfile.exe -m -p <MAPI Profile>" where <MAPI Profile> is the appropriate MAPI Profile for your BES Service account.  The default MAPI Profile is BlackBerryServer
  8. Make sure the appropriate Exchange Server and Mailbox are listed, press the Check Name button and then click the OK button
  9. Install the BlackBerry User Administration Service on the computer Mobile Admin is installed on and start the service.
  10. Start the BlackBerry User Administration Service.  You can use this command from the command prompt if you like:
          net start BESUserAdminService

  1. Test that the installation was successful by running the following command:

BESUserAdminClient -n <hostname or IP address of the Mobile Admin computer> -p <password> -stats -servers

  1. Run regedit on your Mobile Admin server and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Idokorro Mobile\Mobile Admin
  2. Create a new string value with the name LocalBRKPath
  3. Enter the directory where you installed the BlackBerry User Administration Service (i.e. C:\Program Files\Rove\Mobile Admin\BRK\BESUserAdmin)

APPLIES TO
Mobile Admin v3.3 and requires v3.3.53 or later
