Error message: Failed to Transmit

The "Failed to Transmit" error normally indicates that your handheld is unable to contact the MDS Connection Service on your BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

To test the MDS independently from any Rove Products you can use one of the following options.  First Check the version of the Handheld Software on your BlackBerry (under Options -About) if you are unsure.

If you are running v4.2.x or newer
  • You should have a web browser named "Browser".  To force it to connect through your MDS Connection Service please start it up and then select Options from the menu and then go to General Properties.  Please change Default Browser to BlackBerry Browser in order to force it to connect through your MDS and then select Save Options from the menu.
  • Go to your bookmarks, bring up the menu and select Go To and enter a new site (i.e. www.google.com).
  • What will probably happen is that this will fail with a message that you were unable to connect to your Mobile Data Service.
If you are running v4.1.x or older
  • You should have a web browser named "BlackBerry Browser".  This may also have another name as it can be renamed by the BES Administrator.
  • Go to your bookmarks, bring up the menu and select Go To and enter a new site (i.e. www.google.com).
  • What will probably happen is that this will fail with a message that you were unable to connect to your Mobile Data Service.
For many people who encounter this problem it can be corrected by rebooting the handheld.  The best way to do this is to shut the BlackBerry off and then remove the battery for 30 seconds.

If this does not work though then you should contact your BES Administrator or RIM Tsupport and they should be able to help you further.
