John Criswick - Chief Executive Officer

John Criswick, founder of Rove, successful entrepreneur and industry visionary, provides strategic direction and leadership for the company. With a background in space technology and degrees in Electrical Engineering and Quantum Mechanics, John has always pushed the limits of technology.

John founded Beduin Communications in 1997 and built one of the first Java-based cell phone browsers, enabling mobile connectivity to the Internet for the first time. After selling Beduin to Sun Microsystems in 1998, John founded Rove (then Planetfred) and pioneered applications for handhelds such as remote over-the-air access to computers and mobile IT management. John also founded Magmic Games in 2002 to tap into the emerging market for mobile game development and publishing.

Rove’s future direction is shaped through John’s deep technical knowledge, extensive industry experience, forward-thinking spirit and keen sense of the mobility marketplace.

Russell Ure – President and Chief Operating Officer

Russell manages day to day operational activities at Rove. Prior to becoming President, Russell served as Vice President of Research and Development of Rove, under his leadership Rove established itself as a global leader of innovative mobile IT solutions.

Russell brings more than 20 years of experience to Rove, having held previous positions as Vice President of Research and Development for Alcatel Networks and Klocwork.

Throughout his varied career, Russell has led a CAE Electronics team to develop a virtual battlefield simulation for the US Army Research Institute, managed the development of IBM's Visual Age for Basic product, and led the development of a market-leading Secure Private Networking product at TimeStep that was eventually acquired and integrated within Alcatel's networking portfolio. At Alcatel, Russell oversaw the activities of a development organization of several hundred developers and designers responsible for Alcatel’s Network Management product family.
